Note that this item is food grade and is not eligible for returns or refunds. Refunds, returns, or exchanges will not be approved based on the size of a garlic bulb, as this is determined by nature and the duration the bulb remains in the soil. Sellers cannot influence this aspect. Different growth seasons may yield varying bulb sizes; some seasons may produce smaller bulbs, while others may yield larger ones. However, this does not affect the potential size of your garlic bulbs if you choose to plant and grow garlic. The size of the garlic you grow depends on several factors, including the amount of sunlight the foliage receives and how long you leave the bulbs in the ground. ~ Opium Lettuce ~ Wild Lettuce (Lactuca virosa) is grown medicinally for the milky white sap that oozes from the plant when cut or broken. ~ Medicinal Use of Wild Lettuce ~ The whole plant is rich in a milky sap that flows freely from any wounds. This hardens and dries when in contact with the air. The sap contains “lactucarium”, which is used in medicine for its digestive, diuretic and sedative properties. Lactucarium has an affect, but without its tendency to cause digestive upsets. It is taken internally in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, hyperactivity in children, dry coughs, rheumatic pain etc. Concentrations of lactucarium are low in young plants and most concentrated when the plant comes into flower. It is collected commercially by cutting the heads of the plants and scraping the juice into china vessels several times a day until the plant is exhausted. This species contain more lactucarium then any other Lactuca species. An infusion of the fresh or dried flowering plant can also be used. The plant should be used with caution and with the supervision of a skilled practitioner. ~ Propagating Wild Lettuce From Seed ~ Scatter seeds on moist soil, and press them lightly into the soil. Just barely cover the seed as Lactuca needs sunlight to germinate. Germination takes 5 days to two weeks. Transplant seedlings to rich, moist soil and full sun, spacing them 2 ft apart. Wild Lettuce is a biennial, which means in the first year it will make a rosette of leaves, and in the second year the flower stalk(s) will shoot up in early to mid summer to 4-6ft and produce seeds in late summer/early fall. If you’re lucky, it will make seeds the first year. Wild Lettuce is hardy to zone 6 (-10F/-23C).

About Us We are a small family run seed processor that has a long tradition of farming for many generations. I fondly remember my Grandfather telling stories about his Grandfather tilling the earth and the events that impacted his success. The stories bring to life the courage and creativity required to survive capricious weather and market prices. Our history makes it clear that the rewards of farming, including the birthing of the calves, the bounty of a good harvest, and the family’s feeling of being rooted in the soil. I still remember with pride, getting to sit on my Grandfathers lap while driving the tractor for the first time during corn harvest. In addition to commercial crops, most family farms also have large gardens to grow much of the food consumed on a farm. Growing your own vegetables, flowers, spices and herbs, canning and freezing were a normal part of life on the farm. We always saved seed from each plant for starting the cycle for the next year. We would like the opportunity to share some of these seeds with you.
